TL;DR: I am an inexperienced runner documenting my journey with Peloton’s “Road to Your 26.2” class which takes you from 30-minute jogs all the way to being marathon prepped over the course of 18 weeks.
Hello all, my name is Wes and for those that do not know me, I have never enjoyed running. While I grew up playing sports and am a workout enthusiast, there is something so mind-numbingly painful about running at a moderate pace until your calves curl up in your legs. While I may not enjoy running, I admire and respect the mental fortitude that long-distance running both takes and builds within participants. For this reason, I have decided to run my first (and likely only) marathon, and take you, my readers, along with me for every step of the way.
My Running Experience:
I have gone through plenty of phases of enjoying a 2-3 mile run a few times a week, however, the longest, documented distance that I have ever run was just over 6 miles.
My Baseline Stats:
- Weight: 165 lbs
- Resting heart rate: 63 bpm (April ’22 average)
- Heart rate variability (HRV): 47ms (April ’22 average)
- Gear: Brooks running shoes
